I made sandy (a.k.a.: gluten free) toll house style chocolate and butterscotch cookies! they even taste right! huzzah!
because it's awesome:
my mom went underwater spelunking today. she called to tell me about going through the tunnel to a room through another tunnel into another room. she is so ridiculously cute-- an argument for the midlife crisis.
when I get curious about things, I look them up. the internet is amazing like that. sometimes, I use wikipedia. I have mixed feelings about the site, but, if nothing else, the bibliographies provide a good starting point.
apparently, a genre whose ven diagram intersects with the type of music I like is called shoe gazing. not knowing what that is, I looked it up.
this is quite possibly the worst article I have ever read.
unrelatedly, I broke my 17-hair brush. the thing could do a line 1mm thick in glaze. (sigh) I got a 000 brush in an attempt to replace-- a failed attempt.
we still haven't found the rolling pin.

things
2 the lady I sent yarn I won't be using to wrote a very nice thank you card. she makes lap blankets for veterans in the va hospital. if you have yarn you won't use, send it to her:
Dee Becker3. I've found a very good way to justify my addiction to ridiculously fabulous sock yarn: use it to make hose / stockings / tights to wear with the legal "uniform."
4790 White Rd
Pierson, MI 49339
4. my tremor has gotten bad enough that it's interfering with things like typing.
5. the tremor is in my legs, arms, hands, neck, and eyes. (and abdomen, which is really a bitch)
6. we're dealing with it.
7. tomorrow I meet with the ESS coordinator at school so she can decide if I can bring Palmer, my therapy dog, on campus.
8. I want someone to read to me.
9. bobbin bowls are now for sale in my etsy shop.
10. the bisque fire yesterday went well, except that I broke the fire extinguisher. (not using it. I dropped it down the stairs)
11. waiting to open the kiln is *hard.* the stuff is probably only several hundreds of degrees warm-- no big deal!
12. I will be making bowls for Karisa Wilson and Four For Smoking.

I'll be firing tomorrow, and then term three starts on monday.
I thought about calling you, but the idea of talking with you felt as comfortable as walking through viscous mud in holey vinyl shoes.

things that are wonderful
I can't count the number of doctors who have told me that they can't figure out what's wrong with me and so I just want to be sick. one of the reasons that I like Dr. Tolia is because he actually believes me that I'm sick. moreso, I like him because he makes me well.
the holidays mean listening to my family explain how nobody actually needs medication and calling people who have disabilities things like 'handicrappers.' because I do not want to be a gimp, it's easy to agree that I, as my brother says, need to stop making excuses and be a normal human being already.
(he says that about medication and disabilities in general; not specifically about me)
I don't want to need medication, lifestyle "changes," or accommodation. I am not completely debilitated. normal functioning is not impossible.
not impossible is climbing eighty two flights of stairs to the observation deck of the empire state building. Dr. Tolia isn't critical that I don't want to climb the stairs twice a day. instead, he appreciates that it's perfectly okay to ride the elevator just like everybody else.

delayed
I really want to fire it in this batch.
I got caught up in a spiral of doubting reality. it's quite the trip-- deciding that the anaphylactic shock is something I'm making up and the fact that I think it's real just shows how self-hypnotized I am.
oh yeah, and my phone was actually never broken. I just thought it wasn't working.
yeah. really. this is why the crazy person is never the protagonist.

new tools
I got a sgraffito tool. it appears that I cannot cut all the way through when making these kinds of designs.
I also got a tiny handsaw, some more trimming tools, and some other fun miscellaneous stuff that it isn't coming to mind.
the goal is to carve a fractal into a piece I very evenly tore the foot off of, because that will be neat.
I'll be firing this coming weekend. several short and wide pieces are ready, and hopefully they will fit on the shelves I have.
I need more shelves, but I have no desire whatsoever to pay shipping on them. haha
happy birthday, 2009. things just keep getting better for me, and I hope the same is true for you.
